“Colourful Harbour Town in the Heart of Skye”
by Steve – June 2025

Portree is the main town on Skye and a perfect base for exploring the island's dramatic landscapes. The harbour is picturesque with its row of painted houses, and there are plenty of cafés, pubs and shops to keep you comfortable between hikes. It gets busy in summer, but still feels relaxed and small-town friendly.
