★★★★☆ Yes – Worth a visit if you're in the area
A fairytale fishing village with whitewashed cottages, tiny streets, and a scenic harbour.

by Steve – June 2025Polperro is 100% worth a visit, but I have to deduct one star due to the parking situation. The only car park in town is cash only and restrictively priced. As of 2024, a four-hour stay costs £10, making staying in the village any longer too expensive. This makes any visit feel rushed, as there are plenty of pubs, walks and shops to kill more time that just four hours. What makes this ever worse is that the car park is cash only with no option to pay by card or app - who has ten pound coins in their pocket?
Another issue is the severe lack of public toilets. There''s one on the walk down into the village, although not free. Once in the village, your best bet is a pub - that is, if you're a paying customer only.
The village and harbour are lovely, the small beach is also very nice and full of character. There are some great pubs, the Blue Peter Inn and the Three Pilchards, and several places to eat, plus two nice bakeries selling great pasties. Even the walk from the carpark down into town is nice as you walk along a road lined with shops.
