A historic market town with a stunning abbey, cobbled streets, and easy access to Hadrian's Wall.

“Northumberland Market Town with a Warm Welcome”
by Jess W – June 2025

Hexham had a friendly, relaxed feel. The abbey was the highlight for me, and I spent time browsing the little shops and markets. As a solo traveller, it felt safe and easygoing, with plenty of people around but never overwhelming.
