Is Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire worth a visit?
★★★☆☆ Maybe – It depends what you're into
A family-friendly seaside village with a sweeping sandy bay and great coastal walks.

by Steve – June 2025I hate it here. It is a horrible, miserable place. It's tatty and dated with a poor selection of cheap and chavy shops.A quiet coastal village with a famously strange past - but you wouldn't know it from being there. Broad Haven shot to fame in the 1970s after schoolchildren reported seeing a silver UFO, sparking a wave of sightings that earned the area the nickname "The Welsh Triangle." Despite a recent surge in media interest, there's surprisingly little here to mark the events.
When I visited in late September, the weather was rough and the village was winding down after the summer season. It's clearly a beach town at heart, with surf vibes and a handful of independent cafes, takeaways, and a pub serving up a decent Sunday roast. But beyond that, there's not much to do on a rainy day - and certainly no trace of flying saucers or alien souvenirs.
There are no plaques, murals or themed shops, and the locations tied to the UFO stories - like the school or the now-private Haven Fort Hotel - are off-limits or unremarkable.
Still, Broad Haven is a lovely seaside spot. I'd return in summer for the beach and views - just don't go expecting a UFO hotspot. The only close encounter you're likely to have is with a sticker on a lamppost.
