A historic market town famed for its majestic castle and magical gardens.

“Nice Market Town with History”
by Laura Reed – June 2025

The castle is obviously the big draw, especially with the kids, but the town itself is just as lovely. The high street has a mix of independent shops, and Barter Books inside an old station was a real highlight for me. There's a proper market town feel, and it never felt too busy or touristy. We spent the whole day here and easily could've stayed longer.
